The installation reminded the citizens of Poltava of the meeting of city craftsmen with Moscow tsar Peter the Great after the Battle of Poltava (June 27, 1709) which took place here. In 1954 the main architect of Poltava – Lev Vainhort reconstructed the monument.

Today many citizens of Poltava mostly call it as it was called before – White belvedere.
